ITINERARY
Day 01. Mongolia
Depart for Ulaanbaatar, crossing the International Date Line, and arrive the following evening. Upon arrival, check into our hotel which is conveniently located in the haert of the city. (D+Hotel)
Day 02. Ulaanbaatar city tour
After breakfast, we have city tour, which much of Mongolia’s population is nomadic, around one fourth its people live in its capital city. Enjoy a tour of city, Sukhbaatar Squire, Gandantegchilen monastery, including stops at the National History and Fine Art Museums. Later gather for a welcome dinner featuring Mongolian Specialties. Day 03. Hovsgol Lake
After breakfast, we will have a flgiht to Hovsgol Lake. The second largest lake in Mongolia, Hovsgol Lake is breathtaking, surrounded by 8000-foot peaks. Settle into a traditional ger tent on the shores of the lake, and spend the next two nights experiencing the centuries-old lifestyle of the nomad, but with added modern amenities. Later, stroll along the shore to view the swans, ospreys, thrushes and various other shore birds. (B+L+D+Ger camp)
Day 04. Hovsgol Lake
Breakfast, this morning, meet with nomads to laern about the process of making airag, fermented mare’s nilk, which is Mongolia’s national drink. After lunch, we will visit in tsaatan family (Shamanism). In evening, take an optional horseback ride along the shores of the lake. Later, enjoy a dinner of fresh fish, a delicacy in Mongolia. Day 05. Murun city / Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, we will drive to Murun city. Fly back to Ulaanbaatar. This evening, attend a performance of traditional Mongolian throat singing. (B+L+D+Hotel)
Day 06. Terelj National Park
Travel northeast into the mountains of the Terelj National Park. At an altitude of more than 5000 feet, the air is cool and fresh, and the alpine scenery is spectacular. Then we will visit ger camp, and learn about this unique Mongolian home. Then explore the park by foot or on horseback, and admire the rolling landscape carpeted with wild flowers. Day 07. Gobi desert
After breakfast, we will have a flight to South into the heart of the Gobi. After settling in to your ger, venture off into mountains that rise dramatically out of the flat expance. Then we will trek by Bactrian Camel. (B+L+D+Hotel)
Day 08. Flamming Cliffs
After breakfast, we will drive to Bayanzag, also known as the Flaming Cliffs. Here lies the co-called “Cemetery of Dinosuars” the Gobi’s renowned treasure trove of fossils and eggs. Hike down into the gorge, and take in the breathtaking span of the desert landscape. On a visit to a camel breeders camp, laern the two – humped Bactian camel, important to so many aspects of the nomadic lifestyle. This evening, we will meet with a young jochey in one of tomorrow’s Naadam horse race. (B+L+D+ Ger camp)
Day 09. Naadam Festival in countryside
After breakfast in early morning, witness the excitement of the local provincial-level Naadam, Mongolia’s famous annual festival and sporting event. Dressed in traditional garb, participants compate in wrestling, archery and horse racing as they have since the days of genghis khan. Expewrience the pomp of the ritualized archery and the excitement of thundering hooves. (B+L+D+Ger camp)
Day 10. Ulaanbaatar city
After breakfast, this morning fly back to Ulaanbaatar, then we will visit Naadam Stadium to witness some of the natioal level competitions, with greater pagentry than the local events in the Gobi. (B+L+D+Hotel)
Day 11 Departure Day
After breakfast will be transferred from hotel to train station or airport. (B)
